Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Spire Yale Hospital and Spire Abergele Clinic. I am a high‑volume hip and knee surgeon with a special interest in robotic‑assisted knee replacements, minimally invasive hip replacements and rapid recovery.
My focus is on delivering personalised care for every patient, offering treatment tailored to their individual circumstances. I firmly believe that, in addition to surgical expertise, listening to patients, understanding their expectations, showing empathy and utilising technology are all essential in providing truly personalised care. Feedback from my patients consistently reflects this, patients’ feedback could be accessed at ‘iWantGreatCare’, ‘TopDoctors’ and ‘Doctify’. Full details about the treatments I offer are available on my website.
I have been performing personalised knee replacement using robotic assistance for over three years and have developed one of the largest robotic knee replacement practices in Wales and the Wirral. There is increasing evidence that personalised knee replacement techniques can lead to reduced pain and faster functional recovery.
I also offer minimally invasive hip replacement surgery, which often supports faster postoperative recovery and reduced pain. These minimally invasive approaches allow me to offer day surgery arthroplasty in selected patients, meaning some patients are able to return home on the same day as their hip or knee replacement procedure.
In addition, my practice includes knee arthroscopy and hip arthroscopy, as well as Arthrosamid® injections – an innovative treatment option for knee arthritis in suitable self‑funding patients.
I completed my higher specialist training in orthopaedics in Wales and undertook a joint replacement fellowship in Cardiff. I then completed an advanced hip and knee fellowship in Montreal, Canada, before being appointed as a substantive Orthopaedic Consultant in 2008.
I am an invited speaker at national and international meetings, including on the topic of robotic knee replacement. I am also an official trainer in robotic knee replacement surgery and regularly host visiting surgeons from across the UK and Europe who come to learn these techniques.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in a number of research projects and have received several awards at national and international meetings. I am passionate about teaching and training future surgeons, having regularly trained Specialist Trainee Registrars from the Oswestry and Wales orthopaedic rotations, and have been nominated for Trainer of the Year. More recently, I have been instrumental in establishing an advanced robotic knee fellowship at Ysbyty Gwynedd, where senior trainees gain experience in robotic knee replacement.
My areas of expertise include – Arthrosamid® injections, day surgery hip and knee replacements, hip and knee surgery, hip and knee injections, knee replacement using patient‑specific 3D moulds, minimally invasive hip replacement, and personalised knee replacement using robotic assistance (ROSA).

I have been doing personalised knee replacement using robotic assistance for over three years and have one of the largest robotic knee replacement practices in Wales and the Wirral. There is increasing evidence that personalised knee replacement technique results in less pain and early functional recovery.
I also offer minimally invasive hip replacements. The minimally invasive approach often allows early postoperative recovery with less pain.
The minimally invasive treatment options also allow me to offer day surgery arthroplasty in select patients (patents going home on the same day after their hip or knee replacements).
My practice also includes knee arthroscopy and hip arthroscopy.
I also offer Arthrosamid® injection, which is a new innovative treatment option for knee arthritis in suitable patients (self -funding patients only).
