I am a Consultant General Surgeon, Laparoscopic Surgeon and Endoscopist at Spire Methley Park Hospital, with more than 20 years’ experience in general and keyhole surgery.

I specialise in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery, including complex abdominal wall hernia repair, gallbladder surgery and anti-reflux surgery for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). I also provide upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures and am involved in training other clinicians in endoscopy techniques.

I was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1991 and completed higher surgical training in general, upper gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery in Yorkshire. I achieved my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2000 and was appointed Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery at Barnsley Hospital in 2001.

I undertook additional advanced laparoscopic surgery training at specialist centres in France and Hamburg and continue to teach laparoscopic surgery to junior surgeons at local, national and international level.

Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in medical education. My roles have included Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons at Barnsley, examiner for the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England, Glasgow and Ireland, and faculty member for surgical skills courses, particularly in laparoscopic surgery.

My approach focuses on clear communication, personalised care and helping patients understand their treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their health.
