Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, providing both general and specialist
urological care. I have a particular interest in robotic (Da Vinci) surgery for kidney cancer and selected benign conditions,
including PUJ obstruction and kidney cysts, as well as minimally invasive treatments for kidney stones and prostate
enlargement.
I am a core member of the urology cancer multidisciplinary team, contributing to the management of prostate, bladder
and kidney cancers. I am known for delivering a high-quality, personalised service, combining advanced surgical
techniques with clear communication and a strong focus on patient experience.
I see patients with a wide range of urological conditions, including haematuria (blood in the urine), recurrent urinary
tract infections, scrotal swellings, kidney cysts, urinary symptoms related to prostate enlargement, kidney obstruction,
and urological cancers affecting the kidney, bladder, prostate and testis.
My practice includes robotic kidney surgery, as well as minimally invasive procedures for stones and prostate conditions.
For kidney cancer surgery, I offer both the conventional transperitoneal approach and the retroperitoneal approach,
selecting the most appropriate technique based on the individual patient and tumour. The retroperitoneal approach is a
specialised technique used in selected cases to access the kidney directly without entering the abdominal cavity.
Wherever appropriate, I aim to offer effective treatments that reduce recovery time and minimise disruption to daily life.
Originally from Leeds, I started my early surgical training in Yorkshire then higher specialist training in London with
subspecialist cancer training at the Royal Marsden. I completed my training in 2022 and was the highest scoring
candidate in the FRCS Urol written examination.
I then completed a Royal College of Surgeons-accredited fellowship in robotic renal surgery, during which I performed
over 200 kidney operations, including 125 partial nephrectomies in a single year placing me amongst the highest volume
robotic kidney surgeons that year.
I moved back to Yorkshire in 2023 to take up a Consultant position where I routinely perform robotic kidney surgery as
well as surgery for kidney stones and enlarged prostates.
In addition to my clinical work, I am actively involved in research, education and surgical training, with multiple
publications and international presentations, and I hold leadership roles in medical education within my NHS trust.
