I am a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon in Norwich, Norfolk with a private practice at Spire Norwich Hospital and Spire Ella May Barnes Clinic (where I see patients for outpatient appointments). Within my private practice I specialise in laparoscopic surgery for gallstones, hernia surgery, together with local anaesthetic inguinal hernia repair. Other treatments and procedures I carry out are anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication, hiatus hernia surgery), endoscopy and gallbladder removal. I also treat conditions such as gastrointestinal cancer and groin strain. I have an additional interest in pancreatology - the clinical and scientific study of the pancreas.
I have held my NHS post as Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for over 25 years and am an expert in the surgery of oesophageal and gastric cancers and laparoscopic surgery.
To date I have performed over 3,000 cholecystectomies, over 2,000 inguinal hernia repairs and over 550 major oesophago-gastric cancer operations in both my NHS and private practice.
I am the General Surgery representative on the medical advisory committee (MAC) at Spire Norwich Hospital.
