Specialises in
I am a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with a specialist interest in Head and Neck Surgery. I care for both adults and children with a wide range of ENT conditions, from common ear, nose and throat problems through to more complex conditions affecting the thyroid, parathyroid and salivary glands, as well as head and neck cancer.
I understand that symptoms involving the head and neck can have a significant impact on daily life and may cause worry and uncertainty. My approach is centred on providing clear explanations, compassionate care and treatment plans tailored to each individual. I believe it is important that you fully understand your condition and the options available to you, and I offer both surgical and non-surgical treatments where appropriate.
I studied Medicine at the University of Nottingham, where I completed both a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (BMBS). After qualifying as a doctor, I undertook higher surgical training in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. During this time, I trained at several leading hospitals, including the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital, and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, gaining experience in the management of both routine and complex ENT conditions, particularly within head and neck surgery.
I subsequently achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (FRCS ORL-HNS) and completed a Master of Surgery (MCh) in Otolaryngology, for which I was awarded a full scholarship.
My specialist interests include the assessment and treatment of thyroid nodules and goitre, parathyroid disease and hyperparathyroidism, salivary gland disorders and lumps, head and neck cancer, voice disorders and hoarseness, swallowing difficulties, airway problems and neck lumps.
Alongside my clinical practice, I am committed to medical education and training. I serve as the Undergraduate Teaching Lead for Brighton and Sussex Medical School and am actively involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors and surgical trainees.
I have published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals and have presented research at both national and international meetings. My academic interests include head and neck cancer, voice and laryngeal disorders, airway surgery and quality improvement within ENT practice.
I am a core member of both the Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and the Thyroid Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). By working closely with oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, specialist nurses and therapists, I help ensure patients receive accurate diagnoses, personalised treatment plans and care that reflects the latest evidence and national guidelines.
