Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Loren Charles at Spire include:
Treatment of foot pain
I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in adult hip, knee and foot disorders.
I perform joint preservation surgery, such as arthroscopic microfracture and chondroplasty procedures when possible, but for more advanced arthritis I offer hip and knee replacements. I follow enhanced recovery and rehabilitation protocols, working closely with allied professionals to ensure patients to normal activity as rapidly as possible. I have very good patient feedback and satisfaction. I also have a specialist interest in treating foot pain and deal with many common conditions such as bunions, toe deformity, Morton’s neuroma and plantar fasciitis.
In 2004 I graduated from UCL Medical School, having also obtained an Honours degree. I completed my orthopaedic training in this region and qualified from the London Deanery. I have a postgraduate Master’s degree in Trauma and Orthopaedics. I was awarded The Charnley Latta Scholarship and completed an internationally renowned Fellowship at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. There I undertook specialist training from leading surgeons in hip and knee surgery and gained exposure to the latest techniques in foot surgery. On my return to England, I was appointed as a lower limb consultant orthopaedic surgeon for Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, and I work at both Darent Valley and Queen Mary’s Hospitals.
I have published in peer reviewed journals and am committed to higher surgical training; I have gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education, am a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers and also teach Advanced Trauma Life Support.
I provide an expert and personal service using the best techniques to deliver excellent patient outcome.
