I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee problems. I have a busy clinical practice that includes both primary joint replacement and revision (re-do) hip and knee surgery. I also treat a wide range of soft tissue knee conditions, including meniscal injuries and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears.

In my day-to-day work, I carry out procedures such as ACL reconstruction, chondroplasty (smoothing damaged cartilage in the knee), and meniscal repair or debridement, as well as complex revision hip and knee replacements. My focus is on helping patients regain movement, reduce pain, and return to their normal activities wherever possible.

I was appointed as a Consultant at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust in 2016. I completed my surgical training in the North East of England before undertaking further specialist fellowships to deepen my expertise.

This included the Cavendish Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship in Sheffield, a well-regarded programme focused on joint replacement surgery, and an AO Trauma Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA, where I gained additional experience in complex orthopaedic trauma care.

I have also been awarded several travelling fellowships and scholarships, including the British Orthopaedic Association travelling fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, the British Association of Surgeons of the Knee fellowship in New Delhi, and the Charnley-Latta Travelling Scholarship in Hamburg.

Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in medical education. I teach on a range of regional, national and international courses, and I am a faculty member for courses run by the Royal College of Surgeons. I am also an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor and an examiner for the FRCS exam.

In addition, I serve as one of the regional surgical ambassadors for the Northern region, supporting communication between surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and providing career advice and guidance.

I am actively involved in research and have presented my work at international meetings, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the British Orthopaedic Association. I have authored a number of articles and book chapters, and have also co-edited a book in my field.
