My work consists of large numbers of acute admissions and a diverse elective surgery comprising of hand surgery, lower limb surgery, general adult and paediatric plastic surgery, facial re-animation, congenital hand surgery and complex wounds including scalp/skull and spinal wounds.

These complex cases require a lot of thought and may require going back to older surgical methods when newer surgical techniques are not possible. Not only are these cases challenging and thought provoking, but they are also extremely stimulating.

The treatment of facial palsy provides me with immense satisfaction as small changes provide a significant improvement to patient lifestyle. The mainstay of treatment is based on assessing key areas of the face and then looking at reconstruction based on age, static and dynamic procedures and volume augmentation. This is a big interest of mine.

I have also been involved in teaching trainees and preparing senior trainees towards their FRCS(Plast) examinations with lectures, bedside teaching and slideshows.

Since June 2013, I have been working at Wythenshawe Hospital as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, having previously been a locum for 12 months. Prior to this, I spent five years at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London as a locum consultant before moving back to my home in Manchester.

Every Tuesday I work at my peripheral attachment at Macclesfield District General Hospital, where I have one session in the outpatient clinic and one session in theatre.
