Specialises in
I am an Orthopaedic Consultant specialising in foot and ankle surgery. My NHS practice is at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital which is a tertiary referral centre, and I receive referrals and complex cases from all over the UK.
I specialise in all adult foot and ankle conditions including complex neuromuscular conditions, deformity, tendon disorders, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, bunions, and toe deformities and fractures. I also treat sports injuries, ankle cartilage injuries and perform ankle replacements. I have particular interests in complex deformity and patients with neurological foot problems (such as Charcot-Marie Tooth).
My clinical practice also encompasses Achilles tendinopathy, articular cartilage repair, club foot, flat feet, foot drop, heel pain, ligament injuries, ligament surgery, neuromuscular foot problems, tendon injuries/ surgery and pes cavus (high arched feet).
I believe it is of the utmost importance for patients to be involved in their care and decision making. I strive to ensure patients are given a balanced and honest opinion of all surgical and non-surgical options available to them for the treatment of their condition and that they can understand these options. In some instances, this may involve a discussion of complex cases in a multi-disciplinary setting.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Karan Malhotra at Spire include:
