I am a Consultant Spinal Deformity Surgeon at the Birmingham Spinal Unit at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Prior to this, I have worked as a consultant at the ABMU Health Board, Swansea and the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Nottingham.
After completing my CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics, I undertook fellowships in spinal surgery at the Bristol Orthopaedic Spinal Service for a year and spent a year as a Spinal Reconstruction Fellow in Columbia, Missouri, USA. I have extensive experience in the surgical treatment of spinal deformity in children, teenagers, adults and the elderly populations.
I also treat degenerative conditions of the cervical and the lumbar spine, and spinal trauma and spinal tumours. I have treated professional and semi-professional football, cricket and rugby players, and I was a Spine Consultant with the Swans City FC.
I have published papers, co-authored chapters, presented papers to learned societies and lectured at national and international meetings. I am a member of the SRS, BSS, BASS, BOA and ASSI. I am on the Assistant Editorial Board of European Spine Journal, Reviewer for Spine and on the SRS Grant Review Committee.
I am on the editorial board and reviewer for Spine, European Spine Journal, Spinal Deformity Journal, Global Spine Journal, Bone Joint Journal and Programme reviewer and Research grant reviewer for the Scoliosis Research Society.

My principle treatment include: Spinal decompressions for disc prolapse and stenosis, spinal fusions (cervical, thoracic and lumbar), spinal deformity corrections, anterior spinal surgery and sports injuries to the back.
I also carry out treatments for: Spinal injections, surgery for Scheueremanns disease, surgery for spondylolisthesis, treatment of sports related spinal problems, as well as back problems in children.

I enjoy playing squash, swimming, and working on my photography skills. I try to keep up with all forms of cricket and football when possible.
