Specialises in
I am a fellowship-trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle conditions. I have more than seven years’ experience as a substantive NHS consultant and also practise privately. My NHS role is based at Wrightington Hospital, a world-renowned specialist orthopaedic centre.
I treat a wide range of foot and ankle problems, from common conditions such as foot pain, bunions, deformities and neuromas, to more complex issues including arthritis, sports injuries, diabetic foot disease, and soft tissue or bony injuries. I also manage complex hindfoot conditions and revision cases referred to specialist centres.
I provide a personalised, evidence-based approach to care, starting with a thorough assessment and clear discussion of all treatment options. This may include non-surgical treatments such as rehabilitation, injections and, where appropriate, biologic therapies, as well as surgery when needed. I place strong emphasis on shared decision-making, helping each patient choose the right option for their needs and recovery goals.
When surgery is required, I offer a full range of procedures using both established and advanced techniques. This includes minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, arthroscopy, joint replacement (arthroplasty), soft tissue reconstruction and cartilage repair. I perform the full spectrum of foot and ankle procedures, from forefoot surgery to complex reconstruction and hindfoot salvage operations. I also have experience using patient-specific instruments and custom 3D-printed implants for more complex cases, including the management of ankle cartilage defects.
I am also involved in teaching and leadership within orthopaedics. I am an elected member of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) Media and Communications Committee. In my NHS role, I lead the Diabetic Foot Service and oversee the internationally recognised Wrightington Foot and Ankle Fellowship, supporting the training of future specialists.
