I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Leeds specialising in the surgical treatment of painful conditions of the Hip and Knee. After completing pre-clinical training at St Andrew's Medical School, I qualified from Manchester University Medical School in 1995.

After spending a year practicing as a junior doctor at Manchester Royal Infirmary, I moved to London where i undertook basic surgical training. I became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998.

I worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore, and later undertook research into methods of stimulating bone growth from stem cells at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering and Institute of Orthopaedics in Stanmore. This culminated in MSc and MD degrees awarded by University College London.

I undertook orthopaedic training in Edinburgh and completed specialist fellowship training in hip and knee replacement surgery in Toronto, Canada and knee surgery in Edinburgh. I was appointed as consultant in orthopaedics and trauma in Leeds in 2009.

I returned to Scotland in 2002 to undertake specialist training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in Edinburgh.  In 2006, i became a fellow of the Royal college of Surgeons and a year later travelled to Canada to undertake specialist fellowship training under Dr Allan Gross in Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. During this time i gained experience in revision (redo) hip and knee replacement surgery and the treatment of infected joint replacements. I returned to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and completed a fellowship in knee replacement and soft tissue knee injury under Mr John Keating and Mr Richard Nutton.

I was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2009.

In 2021, I was appointed to the role of Clinical Director of the Trauma and Related Services Clinical Services Unit which encompasses plastic surgery, vascular surgery and orthopaedic surgery.

I have published several orthopaedic articles and book chapters and my research work has been presented at national and international meetings. I also lead the clinical teaching programme for Leeds university medical students undertaking orthopaedics in Leeds in their final year of training.
