Mr Jonathan Heath

Consultant General Surgeon

MB, ChB, FRCS (Gen Surg)

My clinical practice at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital includes gallbladder surgery and abdominal wall hernia repair, with the majority of procedures performed using minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques.

I also investigate and treat a range of benign anorectal conditions, including haemorrhoids and anal fistulae.

I qualified from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 1990 and completed the majority of my postgraduate surgical training within the North West region. In 1998, I undertook a year of research in Blackpool, focusing on the impact of patient information on surgical outcomes. I returned to Blackpool at the end of my training in 2001.

I was appointed as a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 2002 and continue to work there as a Medical Examiner.

My clinical work includes benign proctology, gallbladder surgery, hernia repair and laparoscopic (minimal access) surgery.
