I have a specialist interest in laparoscopic and minimal access surgery. This is demonstrated in my approach and personal development of weight loss surgery. I have received extensive obesity training in the UK and abroad, specialising in gastric banding, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional procedures. I also carry out the Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) at Spire Southampton. This offers similar weight loss benefits but without the surgery or scars. It is also a safer, lower risk procedure performed as a day case in around two hours under general anaesthetic.

I have advanced interventional endoscopic skills and have pioneered endoscopic surgical techniques (i.e. scarless). I continue to develop these procedures within the UK and am involved in national and international research trials to optimise patient treatment and care.

 I qualified in 1995. After completing my surgical training locally in the Wessex area I spent two years on an Australian surgical fellowship, returning to the UK in 2007. In 2008 I was appointed at the Southampton University Hospital NHS as a Consultant General Surgeon and have become a highly respected bariatric surgeon.

I am a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for Spire Southampton Hospital.
