Mr Hywel Davies

I am an experienced, enthusiastic and approachable Surgeon. I have over 15 years experience at Consultant Level. I am currently an NHS Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the BRI where I perform trauma surgery. I perform elective surgery at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre.

Treatments I offer include ligament reconstruction, osteotomy, arthroscopy, knee surgery including ACL and other knee ligament reconstruction, full and partial knee replacement, and sports injury treatment.

I undertook my primary medical degree at Imperial College London, gaining a further degree in sports physiology. My specialist orthopaedic training was undertaken in Bristol. While undertaking my training I undertook a Masters degree in sports medicine, writing a thesis on exertional leg pain.

I performed fellowships (advanced training) in knee surgery, arthroplasty and sports surgery at Adidas Sports Medicine Centre in Auckland, New Zealand and Perth Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Perth, Australia.

I am highly involved in medical student and training grade doctor teaching. In my spare time, I have always had a great interest in sport. I have gained higher degrees in Sports Science and injury management. I remain Active in Sport, I am an avid cyclist and runner and have competed at high level in Rowing and Rugby. I now live my sporting ambitions through my three children. I live locally in Bristol and am a proud Bristol Bears Supporter.
