MBBS MD FRCS (Gen Surg)
I graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital in London and undertook basic surgical training in Guildford and Chichester. Appointed to the South West Thames Higher Surgical Training Programme, I undertook research on quality assessment in rectal cancer surgery at St Mary's Hospital (Imperial College London) leading to an MD thesis supported by a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship and a quality improvement grant from The Health Foundation. Research interests include rectal cancer, outcomes analysis and quality improvement, laparoscopic colorectal surgery and ileal pouch surgery and I have collaborated with St Mark's Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio, USA.
I have completed subspecialist training at St George's Hospital, The Royal Surrey and Frimley Park where I developed my interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery and was appointed Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, with an interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery, in June 2009. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the Associations of Coloproctology and Surgery of Great Britain and Ireland and of the Royal Society of Medicine.
