Mr Greg Simpson

Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon

MBChB(Hons) FRCS(Eng) MMed

I am a consultant general and colorectal surgeon seeing patients at Spire with a wide range of bowel and abdominal wall conditions. My practice focuses on modern, minimally invasive surgery, with particular expertise in complex hernias, abdominal wall reconstruction and colorectal surgery.

I have a specialist interest in the treatment of complex, large or recurrent hernias and abdominal wall problems. Wherever appropriate, I use advanced keyhole techniques, including robotic‑assisted surgery, to support recovery and reduce the impact of surgery on everyday life. I have extensive experience in both robotic and open abdominal wall reconstruction and tailor each approach carefully to suit the individual and complexity of the condition.

Alongside hernia surgery, I also treat colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancer and benign bowel disease, using minimally invasive techniques wherever possible. My aim is always to provide clear explanations, safe surgery and a treatment plan designed around the patient’s needs and long‑term wellbeing.

In addition to my private practice at Spire, I am actively involved in national education and professional development within hernia and abdominal wall surgery and regularly contribute to training and best practice in this field. My academic background and ongoing interest in surgical outcomes help ensure my practice remains evidence‑based and up to date.

My priority is to provide high‑quality, personalised care using the latest surgical techniques, helping patients return to normal activity as safely and confidently as possible.
