I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Worcester, specialising in cataract surgery, refractive (laser eye) surgery, and the management of corneal and external eye disease.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery, and my expertise includes treating patients with previous laser refractive surgery, astigmatism, and the use of premium intraocular lenses to restore and optimise vision.
My clinical interests include corneal dystrophies, corneal transplantation, dry eye disorders, keratoconus, laser eye surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular surface inflammation and infection. I also provide advanced care for conditions such as Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy and undertake procedures including lamellar corneal transplantation and corneal collagen cross‑linking, offering specialist corneal services to patients across Worcester and Worcestershire.
I graduated from Cardiff University in 2002, having previously intercalated and obtained a BSc in Medical Genetics in 2001. I began my ophthalmology training in South Wales, completed basic specialist training in the Oxford Deanery in 2005, and took up a Specialist Registrar position in the West Midlands in 2006.
In 2008, I was awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellowship, completing my PhD in 2012 and receiving international prizes for research into scarring diseases of the ocular surface.
From 2012 to 2014, I was an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Birmingham, combining this role with advanced subspecialty training in cornea and external eye disease at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, and senior anterior segment training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
From 2014 to 2015, I completed an advanced clinical fellowship in cataract, corneal and refractive surgery at the Singapore National Eye Centre, working alongside internationally recognised leaders in the field.
I was awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery (PGDip Cat Ref) from the University of Ulster in 2020, graduating with distinction.
In 2022, I was appointed Visiting Professor at Ulster University, where I lead a module for the postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery.
As a Worcester‑based Consultant Ophthalmologist, I am committed to providing high‑quality, evidence‑based eye care locally, combining advanced surgical techniques with clear communication, personalised treatment planning, and a patient‑centred approach.
