I am a Consultant General Surgeon in Upper GI, Laparoscopic and Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery at St George's Hospital NHS Trust, London. I'm an active member of the South Thames Bariatric Service and also a member of many prestigious associations including the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS) and the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS).
I have a personal experience in upper GI, hepatobiliary and laparoscopic bariatric surgery including anti-reflux surgery, gallstone disease, hernia repair, intra-gastric balloon, gastric banding, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.
I have developed a specialist interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic oesophagogastrectomy and provisional bariatric surgery for super-obese patients including duodenal switch and biliopancreatic diversion.
I trained at St Pierre Hospital, Brussels and completed a fellowship in advance laparoscopic surgery at the European School of Laparoscopic Surgery, Brussels.
I have an academic background with peer-reviewed publications and give many national and international lectures and presentations on weight loss surgery. I also have experience in both clinical and lab-based research, leading to the award of PhD in 2008 from the University of Athens' School of Medicine.
