Virtual consultations:
I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in cataract and vitreo-retinal surgeries and retinal treatments. My areas of expertise include cataract surgeries (including complex cases with increased surgical risk and multifocal and toric lenss implants), floaters, retinal detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes. In addition I specialise in the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions, and in treatment with intravitreal injections and/or laser.
I studied medicine at Oxford University, where I won an Open Academic Scholarship from Brasenose College and a number of additional prizes. Since qualifying I have worked in the UK and New Zealand, before sub-specialising with specialist fellowships at St Thomas’ and Moorfields Eye hospitals in London.
As well as working in private practice, I also have an NHS consultant position at Epsom & St Helier where I have been Cataract Surgery Lead, the Clinical Lead for the whole department and the college tutor responsible for training other surgeons in previous years.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Edward Lee at Spire include:

His research interests primarily relate to improving outcomes following retinal detachment surgeries.
