Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I specialise in all aspects of orthopaedic foot and ankle conditions and treat all foot and ankle trauma and fractures. This includes arthritis of the foot and ankle, deformity correction (flat feet and high arched feet), sports injuries such as ankle ligament injury and reconstruction and Achilles tendon rupture and foot and ankle keyhole surgery (arthroscopy), heel pain and plantar fasciitis.
I also treat conditions of the forefoot including, bunions, big toe arthritis, Morton's neuroma, toe deformities and foot and ankle conditions associated with other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. I have experience in the management of diabetic foot conditions and fractures and soft tissue injuries to the foot and ankle. I employ the latest techniques including minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair and ankle fusions as well as total ankle replacement. I strongly believe in education and discussing the medical condition in full, in order for patients to understand their condition.
I qualified from Imperial College London medical school in 2007, with a BSc honors degree in surgery and anaesthesia. I undertook specialist orthopaedic training in London in the North West Thames London Deanery. During my training I worked at St Mary’s Major Trauma Centre and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. I subsequently undertook two specialist foot and ankle fellowships at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, with experience in complex foot and ankle trauma/pathology, reconstruction and diabetic foot conditions. I was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon to West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2019.
I am the lead foot and ankle trauma surgeon as well as a member of the multidisciplinary diabetic foot team at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust. Practice involves multidisciplinary collaboration with orthotists and physiotherapists in the management of foot and ankle conditions.
I have regular and active involvement in quality improvement projects to improve the care and patient experience. I am involved with service development within the foot and ankle orthopaedic department at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust. To complement this, I have completed the British Orthopaedic Association Leadership Programme.
I have also undertaken research and presented and published my work in the management of plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. I am a reviewer for research journals, including the journals of 'Foot and Ankle Surgery' and 'Foot and Ankle Specialist'.
I am keen and enthusiastic on the training of higher surgical trainees and am regularly involved with teaching courses and the training of trainees from the North West London Deanery.
