I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Surgeon with a specialist practice in hip and knee disorders.

I specialise in hip and knee replacement surgery, hip revision surgery, hip and knee arthroscopy, as well as advanced Mako robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement surgery using state-of-the-art technology, providing highly personalised surgical planning and precision outcomes that can reduce post-operative pain and recovery time.

My research interests include stem cell research and the use of novel materials in joint replacement surgery. I have won the following research fellowships: University of Exeter honorary research fellow - hip, 2000. Universities of Edinburgh and Adelaide (Australia) research hip fellow, 1998/9.

My basic orthopaedic training was in Edinburgh and I obtained the fellowship of both the Edinburgh and English Royal College of Surgeons in 1994. I qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in 2000 and was appointed as a consultant at Southampton University Hospitals in 2002.

I have over 30 publications and have contributed book chapters to several books on joint replacement. I am involved in research and was appointed as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Southampton University in 2004.

I was born in Scotland in 1966 and was educated at Tony Blair's old school (Fettes College) in Edinburgh. I read medicine in Cardiff where I met my welsh wife. We have three children and I enjoy skiing, walking, rock climbing, shooting and fishing.
