I am a Consultant General, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) Surgeon specialising in benign and malignant conditions of the Pancreas, Liver and Gallbladder.
I specialise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallstones (Cholecystectomy) and perform over 400 gallbladder operations annually. In addition to laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, I also carry out major laparoscopic and open liver and pancreas surgery, predominantly for cancer.
After completing my Basic and Specialist Surgical training in Manchester, I undertook Fellowships in Hepatobiliary Surgery and Transplantation in Leeds and Cambridge before being appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in Leicester.
I am currently the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) Chairman for Liver, Pancreas and Gallbladder cancers in Leicester. Other interests include management of benign HPB conditions like liver and pancreatic cysts in addition to pancreatitis (and its complications). I also carry out diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures like Gastroscopies (OGD) and Endoscopic Ultrasound Scans (EUS).
I have also helped pioneer Robotic HPB Surgery in Leicester.
I have published in peer reviewed journals on various topics including acute pancreatitis, colorectal liver metastases, pancreatic cancer surgery in the elderly, pancreatoduodenal trauma, laparoscopic bile duct exploration and gallbladder surgery.
