I have 24 years experience working for various cardio-respiratory departments across the North West. I am skilled in all major cardiological and respiratory diagnostic testing. I particularly specialise in respiratory testing and have done for the past 14 years, however I am still actively involved in cardiac testing. Because I am qualified in both major disciplines this places me in the unique position of being able to test and form an opinion of both heart and lung conditions which are often interlinked.
I specialise in lung function testing which produces a report which allows your consultant to form a diagnosis and produce a pathway of care if required. We can test for all major lung conditions and diseases, these tests can not only be diagnostic but can also reassure patients by ruling out disease.
Mt specialist interests are bronchial challenge, full lung function, reversibility testing, sleep disorders, and Spirometry.
I have performed thousands of respiratory breathing tests over the last 24 years all without risk or incident. I am also responsible for the training and competences of the physiologists and nurses who perform breathing tests at my trust.
After studying for my degree at Manchester Metropolitan University I went on to work with them as a mentor for up and coming respiratory students. I often have one or two undergraduate students per year.
The past 14 years I have created and developed the respiratory testing service at my trust.
Since the covid pandemic I have been working with other trusts as part of the greater Manchester network as well as NHS England, to help develop service recovery plans and help steer the future of the cardiac and respiratory diagnostic services.
For the past year I have become part of the ARTP assessment team, marking student portfolios ensuring practitioners are competent to perform the breathing tests to nationally recognised standards.
I have also embarked on an undergraduate degree in chartered management to help me create and develop services for the benefit of my patients.
I am the respiratory diagnostic manager for the community diagnostic centre in Leigh.
