I have been a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon in Huddersfield and Halifax for over 10 years. I currently manage patients at Spire Elland Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital. I am experienced in the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and anal conditions including haemorrhoids. I specialise in the diagnosis and management of bowel conditions including bowel cancer, diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease and Anal problems including haemorrhoids, skin tags, anal fistula and anal fissure. I also have an interest in gallbladder disease and hernia surgery.
I am an experienced endoscopist and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeon and a Bowel Cancer Screening Programme accredited colonoscopist. To date I have performed in excess of 2,000 colonoscopies (100-150 per year); 1000 laparoscopic (keyhole) operations (60-70 per year); 1,000 operations for bowel cancer and benign conditions in both my NHS and private practice.
I am one of the two General Surgery representatives on the Spire Elland Medical Advisory Committee and the current Chairman. I am on the teaching faculty for colonoscopy at the East Yorkshire School of Endoscopy.
I submit data to the National Bowel Cancer Audit for all patients with bowel cancer that I operate on.
