I qualified from University of Dundee in 1993. I undertook specialist orthopaedic registrar training through the London Training Programme (formerly known as St Bartholomew's Programme). I completed a knee surgery fellowship at Southampton General University Hospital, under the supervision of Professor David Barrett. Also I completed a year's knee and sports medicine fellowship at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
I was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in August 2005.
