Virtual consultations:
I am an experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee surgery, hip surgery and sports injuries, with a particular focus on treating knee conditions using both minimally invasive and replacement techniques.
I qualified in medicine from the University of Dundee in 1993 and completed my specialist orthopaedic registrar training through the London Training Programme (formerly St Bartholomew’s Programme). To further develop my expertise in knee surgery, I undertook a specialist knee fellowship at Southampton General University Hospital under the supervision of Professor David Barrett. I also completed a one‑year fellowship in knee surgery and sports medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
I was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in August 2005 and continue to offer evidence based, patient centred care, tailoring treatment to individual needs and lifestyles.
My clinical interests include primary, revision and unicompartmental knee replacement, as well as patellofemoral replacement surgery. I regularly perform knee arthroscopy, including meniscal repair, microfracture and cartilage repair procedures, and I specialise in anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. I also treat a wide range of sports‑related knee injuries and degenerative joint conditions.
