I have been a consultant orthopaedic hand and wrist surgeon since 2015. In my private practice I see patients with hand and wrist trauma, osteoarthritis of the hand and wrist, thumb base replacement surgery, carpal tunnel syndrome, dupuytren's contracture, ganglion removal surgery, trigger finger release and wrist arthroscopies.
I specialise in thumb base replacements and have taught both nationally and internationally how to perform this increasingly popular treatment for managing thumb base osteoarthritis.
After graduating in Wales, I moved back to the Wessex region for my specialist training in orthopaedic surgery, particularly focusing on hand and upper limb surgery. I was the first trainee in the region to undertake the renowned British Society for Surgery of the Hand ATP fellowship and also the first to complete the British Hand Diploma, the pinnacle of excellence for British hand surgeons. I have been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand and shoulder surgery since 2015.
I hold a qualification in medical education, imparting my knowledge onto others in order to improve standards of training surgeons. I am a formal lecturer and anatomy demonstrator to undergraduates and postgraduates.
I carried out research in military upper limb conditions from recent conflicts and have lectured internationally including to the US military in Washington DC.

Personal profile
I am a cryptic crossword setter for the Times, Telegraph and Independent newspapers. I won the Ascot Gold Cup for best setter in 2014 and 2021. I also set 3D crosswords for the RNIB calendar raising money for BBC Children in Need. This helps keep the mind sharp, although with two sons I relish the distraction that keeps me active.
