Mr Chan has been a consultant vascular and general surgeon at Arrowe Park Hospital since 2006. He has practiced at the Countess of Chester Hospital since 2014. Apart from his general commitments to providing emergency and elective vascular care, his interests are complex aneurysm surgery, visceral ischaemia, complex carotid reconstruction and stenting. He also leads in the surgical management of diabetic foot disease. He has trained surgical trainees who have successfully become consultants in their own right and continues to sit on the National Selection Panel for Surgical Training.

Mr Chan has a longstanding clinical and research interest in extreme exercise physiology and blood supply to the brain at high altitude.
