Professional profile

I am a consultant in pancreatico-biliary and laparoscopic surgeon at St James' University Hospital and Spire Leeds Hospital.

I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Biochemistry and then went on to graduate with Honours in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 2000. I completed a period of research and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine for my thesis in 2008. I completed my higher surgical training in the North Western Deanery and have worked in London, Cambridge, Nottingham and Manchester before finally settling in Leeds for my consultant post.

I am part of a three-man regional pancreatic unit specialising in the investigation and management of pancreatic tumours, pancreatitis and gallbladder diseases. I have a special interest in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery of gallbladder and bile duct, the investigation and management of abdominal pains, open and laparoscopic pancreatic surgery and open and laparoscopic hernia surgery.

I have a great interest in day-case gallbladder surgery and improving patient satisfaction whilst in hospital. My responsibilities include teaching the medical students of the University of Leeds, training tomorrow's doctors is very rewarding!
