I am a Consultant Paediatric and Adult Neurosurgeon working in the Royal Hospital for Children and Young people (RHYCP) and Department of Clinical neurosciences (DCN) based in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

I gained significant experience during my training by working in multiple major neurosurgical centres across the UK (Derriford Hospital Plymouth, Sheffield Teaching Hospital, University Hospital in Cardiff, and Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast) and the Republic of Ireland (Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Cork University Hospital, Cork & Children’s University Hospital in Dublin). I then completed a Paediatric Neurosurgical Fellowship in Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.

I have a keen interest in teaching and train Medical students, Foundation doctors and post graduate Neurosurgical specialist trainees. I am a part of the question writing group for the Intercollegiate specialty Neurosurgical FRCS exit exams. I am an appraiser for the Consultant Neurosurgeons based in the NHS Lothian.

I have published more than 90 articles in peer-reviewed International Journals and have more than 125 presentations in National and International meetings. I have peer-reviewed scientific articles for more than 40 journals and am an Editorial board member for three International journals.

My current work includes Paediatric and Adult neurosurgery. I have a subspecialty interest in Brain tumour surgery, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Hydrocephalus, Neuroendoscopy, Craniofacial surgery, spinal degenerative disease, disc prolapse, Chiari malformation and spinal  dysraphism. My private practice mirrors my NHS practice.
