I am an ENT Consultant with over 24 years of experience in ear, nose and throat surgery, specialising in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, head and neck cancer, and the management of complex ENT conditions. I work across Mid and South Essex and provide both specialist and general ENT care for adults and children.
I qualified from Cairo University in 2000 and completed my ENT residency at Cairo University Hospital. I became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2007 and subsequently undertook further specialist training through a higher specialty programme in Glasgow and the East Midlands. In 2020, I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I further developed my expertise in head and neck cancer and thyroid surgery through the National Training Interface Group Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Throughout my career, I have also worked across 13 NHS trusts, gaining extensive experience in both adult and paediatric ENT.
My specialist interests include head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, neck lumps, swallowing difficulties and voice disorders. I also have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of sinus disease, nasal polyps, nasal obstruction, septal problems, ear infections, hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo and balance disorders. In addition, I manage adenotonsillar conditions in children, including obstructive sleep apnoea and glue ear.
I have a particular interest in endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty and ear surgery, alongside the comprehensive assessment and treatment of a wide range of ENT conditions. My approach is centred on providing personalised, evidence-based care, ensuring patients fully understand their condition and the treatment options available to them.
Over the course of my career, I have performed more than 4,500 surgical procedures. My experience includes over 1,000 aerodigestive endoscopic procedures for complex voice and swallowing disorders, more than 800 adenoid and tonsil operations, over 350 thyroid and parathyroid procedures, more than 350 grommet insertions, over 250 sinus operations, more than 250 major head and neck cancer procedures, and over 150 salivary gland surgeries.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have a strong academic and research background. I hold a Master's degree focused on Ménière’s disease and a PhD investigating laryngotracheal stenosis. I am actively involved in regional and national research projects and have published 28 peer-reviewed papers. I regularly contribute to national and international conferences and remain committed to advancing standards of care within ENT surgery.
I am a member of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists, the British Association of Thyroid and Endocrine Surgery, and ENT UK.
