I completed my medical training in Belgium, before completing my surgical training in South Africa and Manchester. I also undertook the first MD degree at the University of East Anglia in evidence based laparoscopic surgery. I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 2005 at Stepping Hill Hospital.
I have pioneered laparoscopic assisted cancer surgery for stomach and oesophagus in the North West. I regularly perform advanced laparoscopic and weight loss surgery both in my NHS practice and in the private sector. My main clinical interest is bariatric surgery and during my research fellowship I was involved with the first laparoscopic gastric banding in the UK in 1997. I also offer anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication).
I am the lead consultant surgeon for upper GI surgery for the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
I offer a free consultation for weight loss surgery at both Spire Manchester Hospital and Spire Cheshire Hospital.
