I am a highly experienced Consultant Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgeon, practising at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Spire Nottingham Hospital. I am recognised for my expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques, treating benign and cancer resections, and I take a patient-focused approach to colorectal care.
After completing my MB BS in 1996, I was awarded a Masters in General Surgery (MS) in 2002. I further advanced my surgical training in the UK, achieving Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2004 and later Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCSEd) in 2011. I was awarded a masters degree (MD) in 2011 from Newcastle University for my research on colorectal cancer outcomes, reflecting my strength in academia and research.

 

 

 

I have completed the specialist national fellowship in laparoscopic surgery, equipping me with advanced skills in keyhole procedures including a technique called scarless surgery for bowel called SILS (Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery). My clinical practice focuses on common ano‑rectal conditions such as haemorrhoids, fissures and fistulas, keyhole and open groin hernia surgery, as well as complex abdominal wall reconstruction surgery. I also perform diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, as well as rectal preservation surgery for complex polyps and early rectal cancer called TEO (Transanal Endoscopic Operation), as well as colectomy and proctectomy including complex pelvic surgery.
