My current NHS and private practices are in Spinal Surgery. I deal with all aspects of spinal surgery (including degenerative, deformity, tumour, trauma and infection) from cervical, thoracic to lumbosacral spine).
I specialise in back pain treatment, cervical discectomy, cervical spine surgery, epidural for back pain, lateral lumbar interbody fusion (XLIF), lumbar disc arthroplasty, lumbar laminectomy, lumbar microdiscectomy, lumbar spinal decompression surgery, lumbar spine microsurgery, minimally invasive spinal surgery (MISS), sciatica, spinal fusion and vertebral augmentation for spinal osteoporosis.
To date I have over 21 years of experience in trauma and orthopaedics in 2 continents India and the United Kingdom. I have more than 6,000 trauma and orthopaedic operations out of which about 2,000 are exclusively spinal surgery which include deformity correction, paediatric spinal pathology, minimal invasive surgery, treatment of back and neck pain, laser disc surgery, lumbar facet replacement, disc degenerative disorders, kyphoplasty and spinal pain.
I have also extensive experience in general musculoskeletal trauma and spinal trauma which are a integral part of my NHS practice.
I graduated from The Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University, India in 1997. I was awarded a Gold Medal and stood first in Surgical Exam in the University. I completed my basic surgical training which was accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in India. I also completed my Masters degree and Thesis during this period. Having done my higher training in Orthopaedics in the UK, I went onto do my Advanced Spinal Fellowships at the University Hospital Southampton and Stoke Mandeville Hospital. I was then appointed as Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon at Croydon University Hospital NHS Trust in 2017.
I have previously been the education lead for my department and currently lead the spinal unit activities.
I am reviewer for journal like injury and faculty for the FRCS clinical and viva mock courses conducted by Medway Maritime Hospital, Wrightington Hospital and Chennai FRCS Part 2 Revision Course.
