  • Keyhole surgery
  • Hernia
  • Colonoscopy
  • Proctology (abdominal and bowel symptoms)

I am a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based in Cambridge, practising at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, Spire King's Lynn Clinic and within Cambridge University Hospitals. I specialise in advanced colorectal and abdominal surgery, using robotic, laparoscopic (keyhole) and open techniques to deliver safe, effective and personalised care.

With over seven years of consultant-level experience and a surgical logbook of more than 4,500 procedures, I have extensive expertise in treating a wide range of bowel and abdominal conditions. My approach focuses on combining technical excellence with clear communication, ensuring every patient feels informed, confident and supported throughout their treatment journey.

I have particular expertise in proctology, treating conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistulas and pilonidal disease. I also specialise in abdominal wall hernia surgery, including inguinal, femoral, para-umbilical and incisional hernias, using minimally invasive techniques wherever appropriate to support faster recovery and improved outcomes.

In addition, I work closely with gynaecology colleagues to provide specialist surgical treatment for complex and deep endometriosis affecting the bowel, often using advanced robotic or laparoscopic approaches.

A key part of my practice is the use of robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgery, which allows for greater precision, less post-operative pain and shorter recovery times. I have a strong interest in advancing these techniques and improving patient outcomes through innovation in minimally invasive surgery.

I studied medicine at Cambridge University and did my higher surgical training in the region. I've conducted research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, gaining a Doctorate of Medicine. I also acquired specialised surgical experience in New Zealand.

In the NHS I am a trainer in surgery and endoscopy. I also instruct nationally and internationally on several surgical courses covering trauma care and decision-making in surgery. I have active research interests in robotic surgery, colorectal surgery, and human factors. I present at and am invited to speak at large international conferences and publish regularly in high impact peer-reviewed journals.
