I am a Consultant Gynaecologist, and I completed my specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2002. I care for women across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, supporting patients through a wide range of gynaecological concerns with a focus on clear communication and personalised care.
I regularly diagnose and treat menstrual problems, including heavy, painful or irregular periods, as well as bleeding between periods, after intercourse, or during and after menopause. I also provide advice and treatment for contraception, including sterilisation.
A significant part of my work involves managing chronic pelvic pain. This includes conditions such as endometriosis, adhesions and ovarian cysts, as well as symptoms like painful intercourse. I use both diagnostic and keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery to investigate and treat these issues where appropriate.
I also assess and treat cervical and vulval conditions. Patients often come to see me with symptoms such as abnormal vaginal discharge, itching, skin changes, or lumps and sores. I offer cervical screening (smear tests), follow-up for abnormal results, and colposcopy, which is a closer examination of the cervix.
I am accredited in colposcopy by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and am a recognised trainer in this area. I have completed advanced training with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in hysteroscopy, acute gynaecology, early pregnancy care and medical education. I have also undertaken specialist training in medical laser techniques.
In addition, I hold a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, along with Letters of Competence in intrauterine techniques and sub-dermal implants.
I offer a wide range of procedures, including colposcopy, hysteroscopy, dilatation and curettage (D&C), endometrial ablation, hysterectomy, and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery such as ovarian cyst removal. I also provide female sterilisation, sexual health testing, and a full range of contraceptive services, including implants.
Alongside my clinical work, I am the Clinical Audit Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. In this role, I focus on maintaining high standards of safe, effective and patient-centred care. My aim is always to ensure that you feel listened to, informed and supported at every stage of your care.
