I am a consultant in podiatric medicine and musculoskeletal science, previously at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen NHS Trust.

I had held this substantive appointment since 2002 within orthopaedics and trauma. I was previously head of podiatry and podiatric surgery at the Countess of Chester Hospital and research fellow in orthopaedics and accident surgery at Liverpool University.

I also completed a fellowship in diabetic limb salvage at University of San Antonio, Texas in 1998. I have an interest in sports medicine and see professional footballers including Premier League players.

I am currently chair of the consultants committee of the Institute of Podiatrists and chair of their procedures and medicines panel.

I have a particular interest in minimally invasive procedures including percutaneous cryoablation and recently lectured at the International Society of Cryosurgery conference in Kanazawa, Japan where I am a board member.

My Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) number is CH10111.

Choosing a foot care specialist

Every doctor, nurse, physiotherapist or other health professional has specific skills and qualifications. They can only provide care that fits within those skills and rules set by their profession. For foot care specialists this means:

  • Podiatrists - They diagnose and treat problems with your feet and lower limbs (they are not medical doctors). They can provide advice, prescribe certain medications and carry out non-surgical treatments
  • Podiatric Consultants - These are highly experienced podiatrists (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions, using a range of non-surgical treatments
  • Consultant Podiatric Surgeons - They are podiatrists who have completed additional training (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions using a range of non-surgical treatments and perform some surgical procedures
