I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery, with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of both orthopaedic and traumatic conditions affecting the foot and ankle. My clinical practice at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital covers the full spectrum of foot and ankle surgery, including ankle arthritis, ankle pain, sporting injuries of the foot and ankle, tendon disease and complex reconstructive procedures.
I have been a Consultant in Orthopaedics and Traumatology since 1999 and currently run one of the busiest foot and ankle services at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, where I treat a wide range of routine and complex foot and ankle conditions. This has allowed me to develop a strong national and international reputation for high‑quality foot and ankle surgical care.
My clinical practice includes the management of ankle arthritis and arthritis of the big toe, ankle ligament injuries, ankle instability and ankle pain, as well as advanced procedures such as ankle arthroscopy, ankle replacement and reconstructive ankle surgery. I have significant expertise in ankle replacement surgery for patients with ankle arthritis and was instrumental in establishing ankle replacement reporting within the National Joint Registry, helping to improve outcome monitoring for ankle arthroplasty in the UK.
I regularly treat Achilles tendon conditions, tendonitis and other tendon disorders, and undertake tendon reconstruction procedures, including tibialis posterior reconstruction. I also manage plantar fasciitis, flat feet, Morton’s neuroma, ingrown toenails, lesser toe deformities and hallux valgus (bunion treatment). My surgical work includes forefoot reconstruction and foot surgery for both degenerative and post‑traumatic conditions.
I am developing a minimal access and minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery service, particularly for forefoot conditions, with the aim of reducing recovery times while maintaining excellent clinical outcomes. I frequently treat sporting injuries of the ankle and foot, using both arthroscopic and open techniques where appropriate.
I trained with leading foot and ankle surgeons in the UK, the United States and France, gaining experience in advanced surgical techniques and international best practice. In my clinical work, I place great importance on clear communication and shared decision‑making, ensuring patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options so they can make informed choices. My aim is always to relieve pain, restore function and help patients return to normal activities and sport wherever possible.
