Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Andrew Baldwin at Spire include:
Oral and maxillofacial surgery, head and neck surgery, facial surgery and oral surgery.
I qualified in dentistry in Liverpool (1983) and medicine/surgery in Manchester (1994). Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of both England and Edinburgh were obtained, and higher surgical training pathway completed in the North West region, before I was appointed as consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon in 2003.
I undertake all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, but have a specialist interest in head and neck oncology with reconstructive surgery, and salivary gland disease. For ten years I led the head and neck oncology service within my NHS Trust, and sat on the head and neck clinical subgroup for Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Currently, I am the clinical director for the head and neck service (maxillofacial surgery, ENT surgery and plastic surgery).
In addition to my clinical work I have a strong interest in medical education. I regularly teach undergraduate medical and dental students at The University of Manchester, both in a clinical setting (wards, theatres) and also formally with lectures and tutorials. I'm heavily involved in postgraduate education with the North West deanery, and also examine for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh nationally and internationally. I have also acted as regional advisor for Royal College of Surgeons of England, helping to guide surgical trainees in the early stages of their career, and also helping to ensure national standards are met during trust medical staff appointment committees.
I am heavily involved in medical leadership roles nationally. I'm keen to influence and mould the future progress of my specialty, and I was proud to sit as an elected member on the Council of British Association of oral and maxillofacial surgeons (2012 – 2015). I also sit on the oral and maxillofacial surgery site specific group of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
I am regularly asked to deliver formal teaching, and I've lectured both at home and overseas in major conferences.

When away from work, I am interested in many sports and still manage active participation. Music also plays an important role in my relaxation, and although I continue to play the trumpet, my interest has now turned to playing the drums (perhaps indicative of a midlife crisis)!Back to top
