I have been a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in Cardiff since 2004, where I treat all spinal conditions including adult deformity (scoliosis), neck and arm pain, back pain and sciatica. I also treat spinal fractures with or without spinal cord injury, spinal infections, as well as patients with rheumatoid arthritis. I have an interest in sports medicine and treat local rugby players from across the South Wales corridor and over the border, as well as Glamorgan Cricket Club.
I perform several minimally invasive procedures including injections, as well as operations on the spine tailored to individual patients’ pathology, which include minimally invasive procedures. I am happy to accept second opinions, as well as perform complex scoliosis surgery when necessary. I still have an active role in clinical research and have presented at local and national meetings.
I am a Welsh speaker, graduating from Cardiff in 1993. I stayed in Wales to do my basic and orthopaedic training. I then spent a year in Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, where I completed a national recognised spinal fellowship treating both adult and paediatric spinal conditions. I continue to do this in my current employment.

Personal profile
I have been a consultant in Cardiff for approximately 20 years and have played a lot of sport during my school and college years, and was a member of Cardiff Medical RFC with whom I am still in contact and support. I still have an association with the local medical school both from an educational and sporting liaison. I continue to keep fit and go to the gym and when able still try to catch up with my grown up children on a ski slope.
