I obtained my basic medical degree at the University of Stellenbosch. My postgraduate training as a surgeon was in the North Thames region.

I spent two years of full time research in Denver, Colorado and obtained an MD degree at the University of London. My specialist training in upper gastro-intestinal and minimal access surgery was at The Royal London, Middlesex and Whipps Cross University Hospitals. 

My work involves the treatment of kidney, gallbladder, and gallstones removal.

I live in Woodford, my wife's name is Lisa and we have three young children, Eva, Louisa and Jake. I enjoy playing tennis and watching most other sports. Our regular holiday destinations are Cape Town, where I am from, and Norfolk, where I met Lisa.
