Miss Helen Bayliss
Consultant Gynaecologist Menopause

"I look forward to bringing Specialist Menopause care to Spire Cardiff Hospital."
I have been a Consultant Gynaecologist for 12 years, and have developed a special interest in the care of women experiencing symptoms of Menopause and Perimenopause. I understand well the problems associated with the diagnosis and management of Menopause and the impact it may have both personally and professionally. I have therefore enjoyed developing what is now a thriving Specialist Menopause service where we are able to provide individualised care to women. I look forward to bringing this service to Spire Cardiff Hospital.
I would be able to help in the diagnosis of both Perimenopause and Menopause and offer medical management. The treatment offered would be reflective of my experience in the NHS Menopause clinic which I lead and would include HRT in all forms to include implants, Testosterone implants and Mirena IUS insertion.
I have two Specialist Menopause Clinics weekly in my NHS Practice in which we see referrals from both Primary and Secondary care. During the last 2 years the demand for Menopause care has increased and we now see an average of 500 new referrals per year and rising.
Within our service we have the experience of managing women with challenging symptoms and also patients with multiple medical problems which can make both diagnosis and treatment more challenging within the primary care setting. We work within evidence based guidelines based on framework provided by the British Menopause Society and NICE guidelines, and this would be reflected in my work through Spire Cardiff Hospital.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and also a Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Chair of the Welsh FSRH. My current role affords me Lead for Integrated Sexual Health and Menopause.
I am Chair of the Welsh Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.
