Miss Elaine Sassoon
Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
AB, FRCS (Ed&Eng), FRCS (Plast)
I was educated at Harvard University, USA and attended medical school at University College Hospital in London. My surgical training took me to specialist hospitals in London, Cambridge, Oxford and of course East Grinstead. I supplemented my UK training with attachments and fellowships in Slovenia and Taiwan (microsurgery) as well as Atlanta, USA (oculoplastic and aesthetic surgery). During my time in the USA I won the prestigious Gaspar Anastasi Award for aesthetic surgery.
One of my passions is microsurgery, with a particular interest in breast reconstruction and I have devoted myself to campaigning for the right of women to a full choice of reconstructions. I chair the Breast Special Group of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons.
My love of sculpture has helped me develop a keen three-dimensional aesthetic eye, and I have considerable experience of all aspects of breast surgery (including breast enlargement), particularly breast asymmetry. I am also very interested in the aesthetics of non surgical facial rejuvenation, particularly the use of natural fillers and fat to restore a youthful face. I provide a full cosmetic service.
I have excelled at research and been awarded numerous prizes both nationally and internationally. For my research on the dynamic anatomy of the kiss I was chosen for the Royal Society "New Frontiers in Science" Exhibition. My book "The Boudica Within" has won international acclaim.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Miss Elaine Sassoon at Spire include:
Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons

I am a bright, witty and thoughtful person. I am always honest and straightforward with my patients. I listen to them and take the time to address their needs.
My outside interests include travel, languages, sculpture and art.
