I am a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation, providing expert care for patients across Worcester and Worcestershire. I run a specialist arrhythmia clinic at Spire South Bank Hospital, Worcester, offering assessment and treatment for a wide range of heart rhythm disorders.
My clinic evaluates patients with palpitations, blackouts (syncope), suspected arrhythmias, and those requiring pacemakers or complex cardiac devices, including implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) pacemakers. I also assess and manage patients with heart failure, many of whom benefit from implantation of advanced devices to improve cardiac function and reduce the risk of life‑threatening arrhythmias.
I implant simple pacemakers as well as the full range of complex cardiac implanted electronic devices. Many arrhythmias can be effectively managed with medication, which is discussed in detail during consultation. Where medication is ineffective or unsuitable, I offer catheter ablation, a minimally invasive procedure that can cure or significantly control many arrhythmias.
I am fully trained in catheter ablation procedures and am a member of the Coventry and Warwick Heart Rhythm Group, maintaining close collaboration with regional electrophysiology services.
I was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in 2012 to establish a local complex cardiac device service and to lead arrhythmia and pacemaker services for the region. The complex device service commenced in July 2013 and has grown rapidly, ensuring that patients in Worcester and Worcestershire can now receive advanced device implantation and long‑term follow‑up locally, without the need to travel to larger regional centres.
I also hold an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist post at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, where I work weekly performing catheter ablation procedures.
I qualified in medicine at Cambridge University (pre‑clinical) and Oxford University (clinical) in 1999. I completed cardiology training in the Wessex Deanery and undertook advanced subspecialty training in cardiac electrophysiology and complex device implantation in Southampton, Bournemouth, and Liverpool, one of Europe’s largest electrophysiology centres.
In 2012, I was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (DM) degree by the University of Oxford, reflecting my commitment to research and innovation in cardiology.
