Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Physician specialising in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine, with more than 15 years of experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of hormonal and metabolic disorders.
My clinical practice focuses on thyroid disorders and women's hormonal health. I manage a broad range of thyroid conditions, including underactive and overactive thyroid disease, thyroid nodules and thyroid-related symptoms. I also have extensive experience in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause, as well as managing conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), also increasingly recognised as Poly Metabolic Ovary Syndrome (PMOS). I help women navigate complex hormonal changes and improve their wellbeing through personalised, evidence-based care.
I provide expert assessment and management of adrenal and pituitary disorders including conditions affecting cortisol production, calcium and parathyroid conditions, metabolic bone disease and other endocrine problems. Many patients seek my help for symptoms such as unexplained tiredness, fatigue, weight gain, and other concerns where underlying hormonal causes require careful investigation and specialist evaluation.
Weight management is a major area of interest within my practice. I take a holistic approach to understanding the factors contributing to weight gain, including hormonal, metabolic, lifestyle and psychological influences. Working in partnership with patients, I develop personalised treatment plans that may include lifestyle interventions, evidence-based medical therapies and long-term strategies to support sustainable health improvement.
I also have extensive experience in the management of type 2 diabetes and associated metabolic conditions. My approach focuses not only on optimising diabetes control but also on reducing long-term health risks, improving quality of life and, where appropriate, supporting patients towards diabetes remission.
Patients frequently feedback that they value my ability to listen carefully, explain complex medical issues in a clear and reassuring way, and create an environment where they feel comfortable discussing their concerns. I believe that the best outcomes are achieved through compassionate, patient-centred care and shared decision-making. I take time to understand each person's goals, preferences and circumstances so that together we can develop a treatment plan that is both effective and practical.
Alongside my clinical work, I hold senior leadership roles, including Diabetes Clinical Lead for the Cheshire and Merseyside Clinical Network, where I help shape and improve diabetes services across the region. I am also the Deputy Clinical Lead for Innovation at the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. In addition, I am actively involved in service development, education and research. As a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion and a member of both the Society for Endocrinology and the British Menopause Society, I am committed to ensuring my practice remains evidence-based, current and informed by the latest developments in the field.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy reading, writing, travelling and cooking.
