Dr Sunil Zachariah

I am a Consultant Endocrinologist and General Physician with well-established private practices in Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, Horley and The Montefiore Hospital, Hove. 

I see patients with all types of endocrine, diabetes and general medical conditions, but I have a special interest in thyroid, adrenal, hyperparathyroidism, neuroendocrine lesions, hyponatremia, PCOS and obesity. I can also see patients with general medical problems, in particular unexplained fatigue. I have patients from across the country and abroad and pride myself in treating patients holistically.

I am also a full-time NHS Consultant in Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust. I completed my specialist training in London/KSS Deanery and was later awarded a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).

I did a period of research in Guildford in gut hormones and insulin related weight gain and I have published extensively and presented in national and international meetings. I regularly lecture in the UK and abroad. I also play an important role in academic training and teaching and I am the Programme Director for Foundation Doctors in Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust.

My special clinical interests include: Hypothyroidism (specifically T3 Conversion issues, T3 replacement), hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, endocrine disorders in pregnancy, adrenal and pituitary disorders, Addison’s disease, PCOS and hirsutism, obesity and bariatric work up, calcium disorders, hyperparathyroidism, diabetes and lipid metabolism.

Other treatments include: assessment of thyroid nodules, dexamethasone suppression test, diabetes work up (type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes), pituitary function tests, synacthen test, thyroid work up (FT4, FT3, TSH, antibodies). at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital i treat children and young people from 16 to 18 years old.
