Professional profile

I am on the GMC specialist register as a consultant in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine. In 2014 I took up my consultant post at Barts Health NHS Trust as a Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in HPB medicine and interventional endoscopy. I qualified from Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School in 2001.

I completed my specialist Gastroenterology training in London and trained at numerous centres of excellence including University College Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, King's College Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital.

In the penultimate year of my specialist registrar training I was selected in the open national competition for the London Deanery Advanced Hepatology Fellowship. During my specialist registrar training I also undertook a four year PhD research fellowship within the prestigious UCL Institute for Liver and Digestive Health (part of the Division of Medicine at University College London).

I provide specialist gastroenterologic, hepatologic and endoscopic care, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). I perform several hundred endoscopic procedures per year. I also perform complex endoscopic procedures including advanced ERCP and have the largest experience in the UK of endoscopic stenting for symptomatic gallbladder disease (endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder stenting - ETGS).

In addition, I have performed several 'first in the UK' endoscopic procedures using pioneering techniques.

I'm also an honorary consultant at the Royal Free Hospital London.

I have published widely in peer reviewed international journals and textbooks and have published more than 30 articles on a broad range of subjects such as diagnostic testing, HPB medicine, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, anaemia and gastrointestinal malignancy.
