I have been a dual accredited Consultant Chest and General Physician since 2000. I am also the Lead Lung Cancer Clinician for Salford and Chair of the Northwest Sector MDT for Lung Cancer. I also participate in the care of acutely unwell patients when on-call for medicine at Salford and also care for patients on the Medical High Dependency Unit. As such I have wide experience in the field of general medicine and specialist respiratory medicine.
At the core of my practice is a desire and willingness to communicate well and to put the patient and their wishes first. Many of my patients have multiple co-morbidities and as such I am well qualified to care for them.
I am a skilled bronchoscopy operator having performed >1,000 procedures and am also able to perform medical thoracoscopy. I perform therapeutic drainage of the pleural cavity on a regular basis under local anaesthesia and under sedation and I have a wide experience of intercostal chest drains.
I have published an MD thesis on asthma: pollution and allergens and is the author of more than 50 peer reviewed articles and research papers. I also write up to 100 medical reports relating to industrial injury and Medical negligence per year. I am a Sub-Specialty Tutor for Respiratory Medicine and Honorary Clinical Tutor to The University of Manchester.
