Specialises in
I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management with a specialist interest in treating complex pain conditions. I work as the Lead for Interventional Pain Management at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals, where I support patients with both long-term and cancer-related pain.
I trained in anaesthesia and pain medicine across several UK deaneries, including the East Midlands, Scotland and the North West, and completed advanced fellowships at both the National Refractory Angina Centre in Liverpool and The Walton Centre. I was among the first in the UK to be awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine by examination and also hold international recognition in interventional pain practice.
I provide a wide range of evidence-based treatments, including medication management and advanced image-guided procedures such as spinal injections and nerve blocks. These are used to treat conditions including back and joint pain, nerve pain, post-surgical pain and complex chronic pain syndromes.
Alongside clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching and training, contributing to the development of future anaesthetists and pain specialists. I also support undergraduate teaching at the University of Liverpool and examine for national and European pain medicine qualifications.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing the violin and exploring my interest in technology.
My priority is helping patients better understand their condition and supporting them in finding effective ways to manage and improve their quality of life.
