I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at St Helens and Knowsley teaching hospitals NHS trust. I underwent structured clinical training in Anaesthesia and Pain management in three different regions in the UK- East Midlands, Scotland and Mersey. During my training, I completed two separate prestigious fellowships in pain management at the National Refractory Angina Centre and the Walton Centre.
I was one of the first pain doctors in UK to be awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine by Examination when it was held in 2012. I have also trained in Acute General Medicine for a year at post graduate level in the UK.
I treat chronic non-cancer and cancer pain following evidence based pharmacological and interventional approaches and using a patient centred comprehensive multidimensional assessment. I perform X-ray guided and Ultrasound guided procedures for musculoskeletal, spinal pain and other joint pains, cancer pain, visceral and nerve/neuropathic pain including chronic post-surgical pain according to Faculty of Pain Medicine standards.
I am the lead for interventional pain management at St.Helens and Knowsley Teaching hospitals. I am also a member of Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation committee in St.Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals for chronic pain services [https://www.rcoa.ac.uk/acsa/acsa-accredited-departments].
I enjoy being involved in the teaching of others within the field and hold a position as the Local Pain Medicine Educational Supervisor - St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
I am an Advanced Life Support Instructor. I am also the Local Pain Medicine Educational Supervisor at my trust. I am an author on the Pain Management e-learning project of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health-2016.
