Specialises in
I am a full-time Consultant Rheumatologist at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance, with more than 20 years of experience treating a wide range of rheumatological conditions. Through my NHS practice, where I assess more than 1,600 patients each year, I have developed extensive experience in managing both common and rare rheumatological diseases.
I graduated from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai in 1991 and later completed postgraduate training in General Internal Medicine at JJ Hospitals, Mumbai, where I was awarded an MD in Internal Medicine in 1996. I completed my specialist rheumatology training in the West Midlands before being appointed Consultant Rheumatologist at Haywood Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent in 2003.
During my time at Haywood Hospital, I gained experience managing complex connective tissue diseases and helped develop early inflammatory arthritis pathways. I was also involved in clinical trials relating to inflammatory arthritis, lupus, Sjogren’s disease and vasculitis.
Since moving to Salford Royal Hospital in 2016, I have established a combined clinic with renal physicians and contribute to weekly multidisciplinary meetings for vasculitis and lupus care. I also represent the Northern Care Alliance at the regional giant cell arteritis multidisciplinary team.
My specialist interests include early inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases such as lupus, vasculitis and Sjogren’s disease. I also see patients with conditions including gout, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, sarcoidosis and IgG4-related disease.
Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in teaching and medical education. I am Trust Lead for Rheumatology at Salford NCA and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester.
